What we’re about
Welcome to Canada's largest theatre goers club.
If you like going to plays, musicals, comedy clubs and other arts events, but don't want to go alone ... you will love Thumbs Up!
One of our mandates is affordable theatre. This means we actively seek ticket discounts when possible. We also go to performances where rush and pay-what-you-can tickets are offered.
We also go to non-theatrical events, including concerts, street festivals, walking tours, day trips and many other events.
There are lots of fun get togethers at affordable cafes and restaurants before and after events.
It's FREE to join our group. Check out our schedule of upcoming events: https://www.meetup.com/Thumbs-Up-Theatre-Toronto/events/

See all- THE WRONG BASHIR … Toronto Premiere…Crow’s Theatre, $26Crow's Theatre, Toronto, ON
Join us for the The Wrong Bashir, a laugh-out-loud farce that uses humour to explore the balance between personal freedom, familial expectations, and cultural traditions.
Plot: Bashir Ladha, a young philosophy major leaning towards nihilism, reluctantly moves back home with his parents and is unwittingly chosen to serve in a prestigious religious position in his Ismaili community. When two council representatives arrive to meet their esteemed nominee, a hilarious mistaken-identity romp ensues, prompting the intergenerational family to question their own lifelong traditions.
Playwright and short-story writer Zahida Rahemtulla premiered The Wrong Bashir, her playwriting debut, in Vancouver to a sold-out run and critical acclaim in March 2023. She received an Honourable Mention in the Alice Munro Short Story Contest and was longlisted for the CBC Short Story Prize.

- AGE IS A FEELING ... originally performed in UK (Distillery District $36 / $65)Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Toronto, ON
Join us for the Canadian premiere of Age is a Feeling, a show that charts the seminal moments, rites of passage and turning points in an adult life *your life* from age 25 onwards. The show was originally performed in Edinburgh and later moved to London for two sold-out runs.
The Show: Age is a Feeling wrestles with our endless chances to change course while we’re alive. A covert rallying cry against cynicism and regret. A call to seize our time. Written and performed by Dora-award winning Haley McGee (The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale), this never-the-same-twice show is a gripping story about how our relationship with mortality shapes the way we live. Age is a Feeling celebrates the glorious and melancholy unknowability of human life. Olivier-nominated, Fringe First winning, Age is a Feeling premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022, before transferring to the Soho Theatre in London. Soulpepper presents the Soho Theatre and Haley McGee production in association with Luminato Festival Toronto.
