Join us for an evening performance of The Night of the Iguana, a classic play written by American playwright Tennessee Williams and presented by Hart House Theatre at the University of Toronto.

The theatre is giving our members a special price of $20 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. This is 20 per cent off the regular ticket price!

Following the show, there will be a special 15-minute "talkback session" featuring a discussion on the play by the cast and audience.

THE SHOW:  In Mexico’s blistering heat, this story explores a priest’s shattered faith and his cataclysmic undoing as he questions the principles with which he has led his life. This American classic features a collection of seemingly unrelated characters that propel us to the end of the proverbial rope in an examination of the limits of polite society.

I must say I am dismayed at some of the reviews by our members. Night of the Iguana was put on at a student theatre (U of T Hart House) for which you paid only $20. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie are not comparable. Cat was performed last year by Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake and Glass was performed last year by Soulpepper Theatre. Both are high-level professional theatres that charged a great deal more money than U of T. Please consider this when you leave your reviews!

I left a message somewhere else but again I want to say as a first time member, I was delighted that I stumbled across this group. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening and the talk back was very interesting! I think you did an amazing job!!

Outstanding, professional production. Very well acted. David Ferry was superb as Rev. Shannon. The script and set were terrific. Just can't say enough about this production. Don't miss it! A special thank you to the cast and director for a great talkback after the show. A warm welcome to first-time attendees Becky, Debra, Heather, Helen and Kirti a.k.a. "K" and guests Lori, Robyn, Hugh, Louise, Janet and Fair.

I think Night of the Iguana is as good as the more frequently peformed Tennessee Williams plays. The moving themes present in the other plays are all in Iguana too. I thought it was great to see this play for a change, the performances were suited to the character roles, and the cast & crew Q&A afterwards was such a nice bonus. By the way -- thanks Belinda for organizing, I probably would not have been aware of this production without Thumbs Up.

It is a weaker Tennessee Williams play than the previous plays I've seen such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, but this isn't a negative commentary on the excellent performance by the Hart House crew. Thank you for being an amazing organizer Belinda!

The play was provocative and relevant still, and the performances were uniformly good. i was especially happy that we had access to the director, dramaturge and the cast for a "talk-back" afterwards. A great night, and at $20-amazing!
