PULITZER-PRIZE WINNER: Long Day's Journey Into Night (Soulpepper Theatre $22)

Join us for an evening performance of Long Day's Journey Into Night by American playwright Eugene O'Neill. Presented by the Soulpepper Theatre Company, the play is considered to be a masterpiece -- one of the greatest of all American plays.

Our group will save up to 70 per cent off  regular ticket prices by purchasing rush tickets, which are usually best available on Mondays.

THE STORY: This play is an unflinching revelation of a day in the life of Eugene O'Neill's own tortured family. It is such a starkly raw autobiographical work that O'Neill requested it not be produced until 25 years after his death. Winner of the 1957 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play. ABOUT SOULPEPPER THEATRE: Soulpepper is considered to be one of the best small theatres in Toronto. It consistently offers professional, high-quality productions. It is also one of the priciest small theatres in the city. To save money, Thumbs Up will be going to Soulpepper's productions on Monday nights in 2012 when cheap rush tickets are usually in good supply. Please note a seat is not guaranteed for a rush ticket!

TO PURCHASE RUSH TICKETS: Get into the box office lineup for rush tickets. At 7 p.m. the box office will start calling out the numbers in the order they were given out until all rush tickets are sold. To get a low number, it's best to line up early at the box office -- by 5:45 p.m. if possible. Belinda will check on availability of rush tickets closer to the performance date.

BOX OFFICE CONTACT INFO: Call the box office at [masked], ext. 1.

MEET-UP ARRANGEMENTS: Meet Belinda at 5:45 p.m. in the box office lineup. She is very short and she will be wearing a bright pink hat. This theatre has assigned seating so it will not be possible to sit together as a group. However, we will get together before, during and after the show.

A very powerful, intense play. Great acting. The story is depressing, but the play is well worth seeing. We all got good $75 seats for the $22 rush ticket price! A warm welcome to first-time attendee April a.k.a. Chanc.

This play was very serious. It went on a bit long at three hours but the acting was excellent.

Really long, 3 hours! Heavy stuff! The acting was good. I couldn't figure out the moral of this story, if there is any.

Excellent play. It's in four acts with one intermission and lasts three hours. But every minute was worth seeing. Belinda and the others who attended were good company.
