Join us for Cruel and Tender, a provocative and playful drama presented by Canadian Stage at the St. Lawrence Centre.

This performance will feature a 25-minute pre-show talk by internationally acclaimed (Oscar-nominated) film director Atom Egoyan and CanStage artistic/general director Matthew Jocelyn.

The theatre is giving our group a discount of more than 15 per cent off the regular price.

THE PLAY: Amelia eagerly waits for her husband to return from battle, but when he does, she discovers his motives for war are disturbingly personal. Cruel and Tender is directed by film director Atom Egoyan. He collaborates for the first time onstage with his wife, celebrated actress Arsinée Khanjian, who stars in the play. Written by Britain’s foremost contemporary playwright Martin Crimp. For more information, see

This play was all cruel and no tender. It was an all-star cast with something major missing -- like maybe the glue that binds together a good production. One member summed up the production best by saying, "It's a mess." On the bright side, we had lots to talk about at the post-show get together. It was also a great privilege to meet Atom Egoyan who chatted with us after the show and signed our programs. A warm welcome to first-time attendees Liz, Olga and Ed "Wulf Tyger" and his guest, John.

I was baffled by the play and this production, however I thoroughly enjoyed the after theatre discussion with Meetup members.
